Premiere of Vasaloppet Bike Festival during Cykelvasan 2024

Cykelvasan is Vasaloppet on wheels. On Friday and Saturday, August 9–10, participants can choose between five different cycling races in the Vasaloppet Arena. Additionally, it’s the premiere of the Vasaloppet Bike Festival, which runs throughout the week in Lindvallen, Sälen, with exhibitors from the cycling industry, spectacular shows, social rides with various cycling profiles, and not least the Vasaloppet Bike Party. In total, there are over 30 fun activities to choose from for the whole family.

In 2009, Vasaloppet launched the mountain bike race Cykelvasan in the Vasaloppet Arena in Dalarna, which quickly grew to become the largest in the Nordic region. On August 9–10, all cycling enthusiasts can choose from five different races: 32, 45, or 96 km long. And already on Monday, August 5, the programme for the Vasaloppet Bike Festival kicks off in Lindvallen, Sälen.

"We continue to focus on the events programme to create an even more festive atmosphere during Vasaloppet’s Summer Week. At the Vasaloppet Bike Festival, the focus is on family, and there are activities for all ages, most of which are also free," says Lena Hermansson, Business Development Manager at Vasaloppet.

In addition to participating in Cykelvasan, visitors can test their cycling skills on fun and challenging tracks, check out spectacular shows with somersaults and world-class bike tricks, learn how to maintain and keep their bike fresh, and join the after bike with entertainment. On Thursday, August 8, the Nordic mountain bike elite will compete for glory and prize money in Cykelvasasprinten, and there will be interviews with exciting cycling profiles and pre-race discussions with the elite ahead of Cykelvasan 90.

"Many suppliers will be on site, offering the opportunity to check out and test new cycling products. Naturally, there will also be the children's bike race Barnens Vasalopp Cykel and, not least, the Bike Party on Saturday, August 10, where the after ski band Partypolarna will perform. We hope as many people as possible take the opportunity to come to Sälen and join our activities," says Lena Hermansson.

So far, nearly 10,000 cyclists have registered for Cykelvasan 2024, and the forecast points to over 15,000 participants. The 16th edition of Cykelvasan 90 will take place on Saturday, August 10, and will be broadcast live on SVT. Last year’s winners, Amanda Bohlin from Åtvidaberg, Sweden, and Kristian Klevgård from Norway, are both registered.
