The Vasaloppet Bike Festival takes place throughout the week in Sälen and, as a festive opening to the weekend, Cykelvasasprinten 2025 will be held on Thursday, August 7, from 15:30 to 16:35. Cykelvasasprinten is a showcase on Valleberget at Experiumtorget in Lindvallen; a fast-paced and exciting sprint competition! Watch top cyclists from multiple Nordic countries compete for a prize pool of 20,000 SEK.
In addition to the races above, events are also held for children aged 3–10:
Barnens Vasalopp Cykel in Sälen on Thursday, August 7, and Friday, August 8, at Vasaloppet Bike Expo in Lindvallen.
Barnens Vasalopp Cykel in Mora on Saturday, August 9, from Mora Ishall to the Vasaloppet finish line.

Hemmavasan Cykel 2025
Hemmavasan is a complement to Vasaloppet’s Summer Week 2025. Participants in Cykelvasan 2025 range in age from 7 to 86 years! The average age is 44.0. Combined, they have signed up to cycle 1,098,958 km, equivalent of 27 laps around the Earth.
(County, nation, and age statistics as of Monday, August 4, 2025.)
35 participants who have taken part in all 16 years of Cykelvasan 90 (including Hemmavasan) have also registered this year.
CYKELVASAN 90 – SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 2025
Cykelvasan 90 starts at the Vasaloppet start in Sälen and passes all the classic Vasaloppet checkpoints. The total 95 kilometres run on forest roads and wooden walkways across marshes, through bright pine forests, past rustic summer farms and meadows down towards the finish line portal in Mora. (90 kilometres of forest road/gravel and 5 kilometres of asphalt.)
Some updates to the 2025 race:
- The start has been moved earlier this year, putting the women’s elite start at 08:00 (same time as the winter Vasaloppet). The men’s elite start is at 09:00, and recreational cyclists start in groups every five minutes, starting at 09:15.
- The first slope now has a more even surface, making it possible to have two or three equally good tracks side by side all the way to the top, with the aim of creating a fairer start.
- Cykelvasan 90 is one kilometre shorter this year, 95 km instead of 96 km, since the course now goes straight at the Risberg checkpoint.
- At Mora Ski Stadium, construction is underway on a new roller ski track, meaning that all cycling courses now follow Hedvägen toward the stadium. Instead of steep climbs and descents, participants will cycle on an easy gravel road that ends in a downhill stretch by the 3-kilometre-to-go sign.
Start list, start numbers and number bibs 2025
https://results.vasaloppet.se/2025/?lang=EN_CAP
There are around 65 competitors registered in the women's competition class, and about 325 in the men's competition class.
The top 30 women from 2024 and the top 30 men from 2024 have start numbers in 2025 corresponding to their 2024 placements.
Start numbers for elite women (green bibs): F1–F100
Start numbers for elite men (white bibs): M1–M200
Start numbers for additional men in the competition class (blue bibs): 301–1250
In the leisure class, everyone wears a blue number bib.
At the start in Sälen, a so-called master start will be applied. This means that an ATV will guide participants at a limited speed from the start area to the road crossing before the first hill. During this stretch, all cyclists must maintain their position in the line and not pass the ATV. Separate start groups for women are available in Cykelvasan 90's leisure class, for those who prefer it.

The Elite – who will win in 2025?
In 2024, Jenny Rissveds and her Danish boyfriend Simon Andreassen won the women’s and men’s classes, but neither will be on the start line this year. Nonetheless, the elite fields are incredibly strong and interesting.
Women
When the women’s elite start at 08:00, several cyclists who have recently secured top spots in Cykelvasan will be on the starting line, including former winners Amanda Bohlin (2023), Elisabeth Sveum (2019), and Hildegunn Gjertrud Hovdenak (2014 and 2018). Last year’s runner-up Lejla Njemcevic from Bosnia and Herzegovina and third-place finisher Nathalie Eklund are also registered. Clara Lundmark, who finished second in 2023, Nellie Larsson, who finished third in 2022, and Terese Andersson, fourth in 2022, are also on the list. Terese also won this year’s Swedish Championship in marathon (XCM) in July. Moa and Linn Gustafzzon placed sixth and ninth in 2024. Just to name a few…
Amanda Bohlin has won all four races she has entered in the 2025 Långloppscupen and she currently leads the overall standings among the elite women.
Men
On the men’s side, Norway, as usual, will field a very competitive group. Kristian Klevgård, who won Cykelvasan in 2021 and 2023, will be joined by Østen Midtsundstad (second in 2023), Tormod Weydahl (fifth in 2023), Jonas Amundsen, and Håvard Gjeldnes. In addition, the strong Norwegian team Huntonhardrocx will be present with Vidar Mehl, Eskil Evensen-Lie, Martin Røste Omdahl, and Emil Hasund Eid, who have all secured top placements in Cykelvasan. Emil Hasund Eid finished second both in 2018 and 2024.
Among the Swedish men already registered are Viktor Henrysson (second in 2023), Hugo Forsell (third in 2023 and sixth in 2024), and Matthias "Mr. Cykelvasan" Wengelin, who has placed in the top ten no fewer than eleven times! He also won the Swedish Championship this summer. Wengelin currently leads Långloppscupen among the male elite, having reached the podium in all five races so far. However, he has been sick this past week but hopes to recover in time.

2009: The first ever Cykelvasan 30, Cykelvasan 45 and Cykelvasan 90. The terms "Vasaloppet Winter Week" and "Vasaloppet Summer Week" are coined. With near 2,000 participants, Cykelvasan immediately becomes Sweden's biggest mountain bike race.

2012: Ungdomscykelvasan starts, a competition for youths aged 11–16 (run on the same course as Cykelvasan 30).
2015: Cykelvasan Öppet Spår is introduced, based on the winter version of Öppet Spår.
2016: First time the women's class start in Cykelvasan 90 takes place before the men's class start (previously there was a joint start).
2017: First year the race runs completely off roads with traffic.
