Who is the best Vasaloppet skier of all time from your country?

Vasaloppet started in 1922 and this year will see the 99th Vasaloppet. It initially started as a Swedish national competition and the first foreign participants joined in 1948. These days, about 25% of the starting participants are international. But do you know who from your country has the best results? We have the list.

Vasaloppet has had international winners 32 times (ten of which are in the women's class which became official in 1997). After Sweden, Norway is the most successful with 17 victories.

Footnotes
Women were allowed to ski Vasaloppet 1981–1996 in the same class as the men. Since 1997, women have their own competition class.

Gert-Dietmar Klause of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) won Vasaloppet in 1975, and Ivan Garanin of the Soviet Union won in 1977.

Svetlana Nageikina won Vasaloppet two times, competing for different nations (Russia and Belarus). Katerina Smutná also skied for two different nations (Austria and the Czech Republic).
