Vasaloppet 2019 fully booked – training conditions are already excellent
Registration for Vasaloppet 2019 opened this Sunday morning. Vasaloppet is now fully booked and, after a few hours, slightly over 30,000 participants have registered for the races in Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2019. For those who want to start ski training in the Vasaloppet Arena there is still plenty of snow and Vasaloppet will be preparing tracks for every weekend as long as the snow supply is there.
The 95th Vasaloppet, which runs on March 3, 2019, was fully booked about 90 minutes after registration opened at 09:00 on Sunday morning. Registration for Nattvasan and Stafettvasan also opened at 09:00 and in both races there are still places available for the Winter Week 2019.
At 10:00 registration opened for Kortvasan, Tjejvasan, Öppet Spår Sunday, Öppet Spår Monday and Halvvasan. Compiling the numbers from this morning we can see that a bit over 30,000 have registered for Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2019.
"We've had a fantastic winter this year and it looks to continue a while longer. There are very good opportunities to start training for next year's race, and we're happy that so many have already decided to participate in our Winter Week 2019 races," says Eva-Lena Frick, Vasaloppet's CEO.
Since 2015 Vasaloppet uses a loyalty programme, which means that loyal participants could register for Vasaloppet 2019 as early as Tuesday to Thursday this past week. Participants qualify for the loyalty programme if they have completed at least three of Vasaloppet's 90-kilometre ski races* over the past six years (2013–2018), and are then granted priority booking for Vasaloppet 2019.
(*Vasaloppet, Öppet Spår Sunday, Öppet Spår Monday and Nattvasan – only one race per year counts.)
Footnote: The Vasaloppet Summer Week 2018 currently has a total of over 20,500 registrants.
