Pressmeddelande -
Press Accreditation for Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2019
We hereby invite you to visit the 2019 Vasaloppet Winter Week – 498 years after Gustav Vasa's adventure in Dalarna. A warm welcome to the three Vasaloppet municipalities Malung-Sälen, Mora and Älvdalen! The Winter Week starts, as always, with Kortvasan on Friday February 22 and finishes with the 95th Vasaloppet on Sunday, March 3. Many more races will take place between those two. New for this year is Nattvasan 45 which starts in Oxberg – in the glow of headlamps – on Friday night, March 1 at 20:00.
Last year we reached a total of almost 100,000 registered participants during Vasaloppet's Winter Week and Vasaloppet's Summer Week; 99,847 to be exact...
286 participants also managed to complete all three types of races in 2018 (skiing, cycling and running) in what is now referred to as Vasaloppstrippeln 90 and Vasaloppstrippeln 45.
For the eighth year in a row Vasaloppet's Winter Week will attract over 60,000 registrants and there are still plenty of start positions available. Snow conditions this year are also getting better and better right now.
This year the Nordic World Ski Championships are taking place in Seefeld at the same time as the Winter Week. Cross-country skiing will, in other words, be a major focus during this period of time. On the same day as the men's relay World Championship we'll be holding the biggest ski relay race in the world: Stafettvasan, with about 12,000 registered participants.
Sveriges Television – who will be broadcasting the World Championships – will also live broadcast Tjejvasan and the fully booked Vasaloppet.
As usual this year's Kranskulla, Emma Höglund, and Kransmas, Victor Sticko, will be working hard with many different assignments during the Winter Week. Not least they'll be standing by to welcome the victors at the finish line. But we also have upwards of 4,000 other fantastic functionaries that make these events possible!
In Vasaloppet's recently updated FACTS GUIDE you'll find everything you need to know about Vasaloppet, past or present. Again this year we are offering a digital copy at www.vasaloppet.se/faktaguidePhysical copies of the Facts Guide can be collected in Vasaloppet's press centre in connection with the events.
Press Accreditation for 2019 is openAccreditation is obligatory for all media covering the event. Register your attendance in good time via the link below no later than February 20. Personal press passes can be collected at the press centre (Mora) from Thursday, February 21.
