Vasaloppet has opened registration for Vasaloppet 2025

For the first time ever, registration for next year's Vasaloppet opened before this year's race even started! This means that you can sign up for the 101st Vasaloppet and the other 13 ski races in Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2025 today.

Vasaloppet's Winter Week 2025 starts on February 21 and finishes with the 101st Vasaloppet on Sunday, March 2. Registration opened on February 22, 2024, and those registered for the 2024 Winter Week had the opportunity to register in advance so that no one participating in a race this year would risk losing out on a race next year.

This year, so far 60,000 skiers have registered for Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2024. The 100th Vasaloppet in history takes place on Sunday March 3, 2024.

"We see a fantastic interest in skiing and, of course, we want to give everyone who may be inspired during this year's Winter Week the opportunity to sign up for one of our races next year. That way, they have the chance to set a goal for their training that they can start training for already this winter. There are 14 different races, with the distances 10, 30, 45, and 90 km to choose from, so everyone can reach the finish line of their own challenge," says Camilla Sandy Swarén, press manager at Vasaloppet.

Historically, registration for Vasaloppet has opened at different times. Sometimes it has been in the autumn, sometimes in the spring. For the first race in 1922, participants only had about a week to register before the race! For several years in the early 2000s, registration for next year's race opened discreetly at 08:01 on the first Sunday in March. In other words, one minute after the start on Vasaloppet Sunday. From 2013 onwards, registration for the next year's race opened two weeks after Vasaloppet.

Vasaloppet 2025 marks another 100th anniversary for Vasaloppet as the race was broadcast on the radio for the first time in 1925. Sven Jerring commentated the first live sports report in Swedish radio from the Vasaloppet finish line on March 8, 1925. (Swedish national radio “Radiotjänst” had started its radio broadcasts on January 1 of the same year.)
