More World Championship runners in Ultravasan 45
321 gents and 154 ladies have so far registered to run Ultravasan 45 on Saturday, August 22. Several of them will also be participating in the 100 km World Championships held in Winschoten, the Netherlands, on September 12, and have therefore chosen to run Ultravasan 45 to prepare for the World Championships.
The Swedish World Championship team, selected on August 11, consists of the following names: Jonas Buud, Fritjof Fagerlund, Linus Holmsäter, Henrik Jannborg, Patrik Werme, Kajsa Berg, Sophia Sundberg, Stina Svensson and Frida Södermark.
Out of these, Fritjof Fagerlund, Linus Holmsäter and Sophia Sundberg will be running Ultravasan 45, while Jonas Buud is registered for Ultravasan 90. Sophia Sundberg, who was fourth in Ultravasan 90 last year, will compete in Ultravasan 45 against, among others, Caroline Dubois, this year's French 100 km champion, who came 21st in the Paris Marathon 2015.
The gents class in Ultravasan 45 2014 was won by Mora orienteer Roman Ryapolov (pictured above). This year he will also face "local" opposition in the form of his team mates from IFK Mora OK, Artem Panchenko and Vojtéch Král – all three with impressive orienteering backgrounds.
The Norwegian rock drummer Björn Tore Kronen Taranger once weighed 105 kg, but seven years ago saw the end of that. Kronen Taranger started running, lost 35 kilos, became Norwegian 100 km champion, and is headed for his first World Championship this September. But before then he will run Ultravasan 45. He can still pull off an impressive drum solo. See it on Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMZrTr96SL0
So we can look forward to an interesting and exciting race on August 22.
Like a marathon, but tougher!
Ultravasan 45 is for those who want to take on a race harder than a marathon, but who aren’t yet ready for the full stretch from Sälen to Mora. Read more and register at:
