Running festival in the Vasaloppet Arena

Pressmeddelande -

Ahead of Ultravasan, Trailvasan, Funkisvasan and Vasastafetten 2025

On Friday, August 15, and Saturday, August 16, the Vasaloppet Arena will be in full swing as the Vasaloppet Summer Week 2025 concludes with six different running races. More than 6,800 runners have signed up to take on the challenge – a mix of elite athletes and enthusiastic recreational runners. Participants come from all 21 Swedish counties and 37 other nations. Five individual races and the popular Vasastafetten relay are on the agenda, and for many this is the final step in the quest to complete Vasaloppstrippeln – having previously skied and cycled the classic course. New for this year, Vasaloppet.TV will broadcast live starting as early as 04:55 on Saturday morning. Here, we present an overview of interesting facts, statistics, possible favourites to win and a bit of trivia for those interested.

Registration is still open at vasaloppet.se until Thursday, August 14. Direct registration on location (with a slightly higher fee) opens on Friday, August 15, at 10:00 at the race office in Mora and at 12:00 at the race office in Sälen. On race day, you can register at the start location.
Opening hours: https://www.vasaloppet.se/en/summer/open

Friday
On Friday afternoon at 14:00, the events kick off with Funkisvasan, starting and finishing at the Vasaloppet finish line in Mora. This is a 4 km recreational race aimed at individuals with disabilities.

At 18:00, it's time for Trailvasan 10, a 10 km recreational race, starting and finishing at the Vasaloppet finish line.

In addition to the above races, the children's running event "Barnens Vasalopp Löpning" will take place on Friday, August 15, in Mora (at 16:15) and in Sälen (at 18:00) for those up to around 10 years old. It's a fun and challenging course where the children can experience movement and joy.

Saturday
On Saturday, August 16, Ultravasan 90, Ultravasan 45, Trailvasan 30, and Vasastafetten will follow. A total of seven classes (six of which are competition classes) will run on Saturday:

- Ultravasan 90: 92 km. Start in Sälen at 05:00.
Ultravasan 90 km starts in Sälen, following the traditional Vasaloppet course eastwards towards Mora. Two classes: Women and Men.

- Ultravasan 45: 45 km. Start in Oxberg at 09:00.
Ultravasan 45 km starts in Oxberg, largely following the winter route of Vasaloppet 45 along the Oxberg lake towards Vasslan, before joining the Ultravasan 90 course. Two classes: Women and Men.

- Trailvasan 30: 30 km. Start in Oxberg at 11:30.
Trailvasan 30 km starts in Oxberg, taking forest roads and paths to Mora, passing through traditional Swedish summer farms and spruce forests via the checkpoints in Oxberg, Hökberg, and Eldris. Two classes: Women and Men.

- Vasastafetten: Running relay for ten-person teams. Start in Sälen at 08:00.
92 km from Sälen to Mora, divided into ten stages ranging from 4.5 to 15 km. From this year and on, Vasastafetten is a recreational race, so there are no longer competition classes – matching the winter ski relay Stafettvasan. (A participant may run multiple sections, but the team must consist of at least two people.)

This year’s course
There will be no changes to this year's course route in Trailvasan 30, Ultravasan 45, Ultravasan 90 and Vasastafetten. However, in Trailvasan 10, the course has been rerouted at Mora Ski Stadium due to construction of a new roller ski track.

More information about routes and surfaces can be found at: https://www.vasaloppet.se/en/races/running-races/ultravasan90/about/during/#courseinformation
"Ultra" denotes races longer than the marathon distance of 42,195 metres, and "trail" or "terrain" signifies that most of the race takes place on surfaces other than asphalt.
